About Us

London And Essex Insurance Services Ltd is an independent insurance intermediary authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. We are members of The Commercial Broking Alliance as well as members of The British Insurance Brokers Association.

Our CEO, Ian Munro, formed London and Essex Insurance Services and began trading in late 1985. Our primary aim was then, and still is now, to provide a caring attitude to our customers, listening carefully to their needs and providing them with risk solutions, security and peace of mind. Our business has grown consistently through satisfied client’s recommendations and professional introduction. Our customers range from “one man bands” to major organizations.

In the insurance business size really does matter. As members of “COBRA” (The Commercial Broking Alliance), who collectively handle over £300 million of premium income, we enjoy access to Lloyds and "preferred" status with a panel of major insurers - achieving premium savings for our customers and levels of cover not available to most other brokers.

That said, we have retained our independence and are a "small to medium enterprise" ourselves. As such we understand most of the problems and difficulties businesses face. We are aware that speedy decisions, cost awareness and an efficient service are invaluable. It’s an old cliché but we literally are "Big Enough to cope and Small Enough to Care"

We are mindful that all businesses are individual and so we take time out, either by telephone or by visiting your premises, to analyse your activities, listen carefully to you and understand your particular needs.

We will then evaluate your insurance requirements and suggest types of solutions – we will only ever suggest cover which we firmly believe will be of benefit to you. As, collectively, we have well over 50 years of experience we can advise you what you do need - and what you don’t.

We will then negotiate with a panel of major insurers or through our Cobra Lloyds Market facility to provide the cover you need at competitive rates / terms. Monthly premium payment facilities are also sourced. The results will be provided to you together with a Plain English summary of insurance. We ensure you have a good understanding of the risks and solutions. We don’t hide behind jargon – no gaps - no surprises.


Our service does not end at quotation / policy issue stage. We work hard to remove the time, hassle and administration from you throughout the insurance process and offer ongoing help in areas such as proposal completion, visits prior to insurer’s surveys, prompt response to any query you may have, renewal reviews and, of course, assistance in formulating and pursuing claims.
Client satisfaction and retention is essential to us so you will be dealing with the same staff at London and Essex at every stage – not passed from department to department. Ultimately our goal is to build long term “win-win” relationships with our clients. It is no wonder then that most of our VIP clients have remained loyal to us for the best part of two decades!
